What is Cornell ILR Job Search Platform?

Cornell ILR Job Search Platform is part of a study titled "Job Search Online: how people search and find jobs." Led by Professors Michele Belot and Philipp Kircher from the Department of Economics at Cornell University. The goal of the study, and the Cornell Job Search Platform, is twofold: we want to help you find a job, and we want to better understand how that search process works.

Can I search for actual vacancies on the platform?

Yes. Although this is an experimental platform, all vacancies are real and you can search for actual job openings in the areas and occupational categories you are interested in.

Can I apply to vacancies on the platform?

Each vacancy page contains a button named "Apply Now". This button will re-direct you to the vacancy page as posted by the employer. You can then proceed to apply directly with the employer. The application will not be submitted through or handled by Cornell ILR Job Search Platform. All subsequent communcation after submitting an application will be directly with the employer that posted the vacancy.

How do I create an account on Cornell ILR Job Search Platform?

To create an account on Cornell ILR Job Search Platform, click on the "Sign Up" button on our homepage. You will be prompted to sign up through LinkedIn. You can also use your email address to sign up.

How do I search for vacancies?

You can search for vacancies on the homepage, or by navigating to 'Vacancies' and then 'Find Vacancies' in the menu at the top of the page.

When you first start searching, you can include a search term (e.g., "Administrative Assistant"), a preferred location, and a radius around that location. Once you get to see the first vacancies, you can further filter your search results by pay, and a number of vacancy characteristics.

Can I save job listings for later?

Yes, you can save job listings by clicking on the "Save Vacancy" button on the job listing page. This allows you to revisit and apply to the job later from your saved jobs list.

How can employers post job listings on Cornell ILR Job Search Platform?

Employers do not directly post job listings on Cornell ILR Job Search Platform. Rather, we collect job postings from CareerOneStop, an integrated suite of national job posting websites, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration.

Can I receive job alerts for new listings?

Yes, you can. If you indicated you would like to receive alerts by email or phone, we will periodically send you messages when new postings have been added to the platform. You can change this setting under 'My Account'.

How do I change my password?

You can change your password by going to your profile page. Your profile page can be found in the menu at the top of the page, under 'My Account'.
